VANCOUVER – FEBRUARY 9, 2010 Although he has a cozy apartment in Vancouver, Shani Davis has also been enjoying life in the Olympic Village, current home to the world’s best winter athletes.

Like most of his Olympic speedskating peers from Canada, Shani finds it advantageous to reside near the Olympic Oval where he’ll be competing. “Living [in the apartment] helps me keep in the rhythm that I’ve been in all year, minimizing distractions.”

But his friends and Olympic family are never far away. He travels daily to the Village to have meals in the Olympic Dining Hall with friends from the U.S. long track and short track speedskating team and other nations. “I love the unity of the nations living together in one spot.”

Today was a rest day from skating, but Shani returns to the Oval tomorrow to begin his final preparations for Olympic competition.
