Two-time Olympic Champion Shani Davis is in familiar territory. After wrapping up another grueling summer of training in Salt Lake City with the U.S. Short Track Speedskating program, Davis is back on the big track at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, preparing for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.

The competitive season officially begins Oct. 22 in Milwaukee, where Shani will defend his titles at the U.S. Single Distance Championships. The Championships also serve as the qualifying event for the 2010 Fall World Cup circuit, in which Davis aims to compete at distances from 500 to 5,000 meters.

joining Team Shani Davis in 2010 is renowned coach Peter Mueller, who has helped steer numerous athletes from various nations to the Olympic podium over the course of several decades. Mueller and Davis have three 1000m Olympic Gold medals between then, Mueller having won the first ever 1000 Meter gold in the event’s debut at the 1976 Olympic Winter Games of Innsbruck, Austria.

The 2010-2011 World Cup season gets underway in Heerenveen, The Netherlands, November 12-14.
